The Benefits of Compact Laminate Worktops for Kitchen Fitters
Compact Laminate: The Benefits for Fitters
Compact laminate has become one of the most requested worktop materials in UK kitchens. For kitchen fitters, it offers something few other premium surfaces can: the look and performance of stone, with an installation process that stays in your hands from start to finish.
The look of stone
Zenith is designed to look, feel and perform like stone. Each worktop has a realistic surface texture and a solid-coloured core that runs all the way through, so cut edges match the surface. There are no visible layers, no edging strips and no compromise on the finished look.
At just 12.5mm thick, Zenith also gives clients the slim, contemporary profile they’ve seen in high-end quartz kitchens. With a wide choice of designs inspired by natural stone, marble and concrete, there’s an option to suit most kitchen styles.
No templating, no fabrication lead times
Stone and quartz usually mean a templating visit, a wait for fabrication and a specialist installation team. Zenith removes all three.
There’s no templating process and no waiting on a fabricator. With the right tools and planning, a Zenith kitchen can be measured, cut and installed in a single day. That means shorter project timelines for your clients, and the whole job stays with you.
Standard tools, not specialist equipment
Zenith is fitted with tools most kitchen fitters already own, including a circular saw with a guide rail, a hand router, sanding tools and a biscuit jointer. The best way to start is with a new, high quality blade, which gives a clean, crisp edge from the first cut.
A solid, waterproof surface built for everyday life
Unlike standard laminate, which has a chipboard core, compact is made by compressing layers of decorative paper and resin into one solid, waterproof panel. There’s no core to protect from moisture, which makes it well suited to busy kitchens and areas around the sink.
The surface is non-porous and resistant to stains, mould, mildew and bacteria growth. Day-to-day cleaning just needs a wipe down with mild detergent and water.
Premium details that clients notice
Because Zenith is solid all the way through, it opens up design details that aren’t possible with standard laminate:
- Undermount sinks, for a clean, seamless look
- Drainer grooves routed directly into the worktop alongside an undermount sink
- Islands and breakfast bars, with every edge cut and refinished, and overhangs of up to 250mm from the supported edge
- Matching upstands and splashbacks, for a fully coordinated finish
These are the kinds of details clients associate with stone kitchens.
More value from every worktop
Because Zenith needs no edging, offcuts are genuinely usable around the kitchen. They can be turned into open shelving, a wine shelf or a matching window sill above the sink, so very little goes to waste and the look carries right through the room.
Backed by guarantees
Zenith worktops carry a 10-year guarantee. Finish your installations with Complete colour-matched sealant for a 3-year* guarantee on all joints, protecting against moisture ingress and expansion for added peace of mind.
A premium surface at a more accessible price
Zenith is typically a more affordable option than natural stone or quartz. For many clients, that makes a stone-look kitchen achievable where it might not have been before. However, it’s the quality of the finish that most often wins them over.
