Your Home Made Perfect: Evolve on a TV Renovation
Bushboard Evolve was the perfect choice in a contemporary kitchen, the result of a virtual reality proposition in BBC2's home makeover show, Your Home Made Perfect. Presented by Angela Scanlon, the ground-breaking property and makeover series sees innovative architects, Laura Jane Clark and Robert Jamison, transform ordinary homes into extraordinary ones. The results are presented to the homeowners using virtual reality headsets, giving them a real life look at how the changes will work. The design chosen by homeowners Ruth and Lindsey was crisp, clean and uncluttered - the vision included open shelving, handless design and a fresh feel that combined the contemporary with the timeless.
The worktops in the new open plan kitchen diner feature a wrap around effect, using a column in the centre of the room to punctuate the space between the living and cooking areas. Evolve in Caldeira has been used throughout the kitchen, with integrated drainer grooves installed next to the copper undermount sink. As Evolve is 100% waterproof compact laminate, it lends itself to these subtle details that add to the seamless overall effect of the minimalist, fuss free kitchen design.
Interior designer Sian Astley is the build project manager for the show. The says, "The Caldeira decor of Bushboard Evolve brings warmth and modernity. Decent worktops are something that renovators often forget about, but factoring in fabulousness is so important! You don't want to spend thousands on the build and leave nothing for making it look good. Ruth and Lindsey wanted a worktop with grey and coppery tones for an industrial finish, and Evolve in Caldeira ticked all the boxes."
Evolve in Caldeira adds a warmth to the modern kitchen and has even been incorporated into the living space. Thanks to its versatility and solid core, Evolve can be cut into any shape or size, and the fitter used an offcut to create a matching end table simply by refinishing the edges, and attaching legs. Homeowner Ruth said, "The whole experience was amazing. When it came to the kitchen, we hadn't heard of Evolve but we are delighted with the slim lines and striking colours. The worktop is the hardest working part of the kitchen, so we wanted something that will endure."
