Encore Worktops in a Sociable Family Kitchen

Sharon Hornsby, AKA @hornsby_style, is an award-winning interior design blogger with a penchant for house renovation – and she chose Bushboard Encore solid surface worktop in Ice for most recent kitchen overhaul.

As a serial renovator Sharon Hornsby makes confident decisions when it comes to a complete kitchen overhaul, and knew that Bushboard Encore solid surface worktop in Ice for her most recent kitchen revamp was the practical but beautiful choice.

Bushboard Encore work surface is sleek and seamless with a designer look. The distinctive designs mirror the strata of marble and granite, but the surface is impact resistant, repairable and non-porous, which makes it ultra-hygienic and waterproof. The ideal worktop for a busy kitchen.

Sharon says, “This is a family kitchen and we wanted the kitchen to be a social space. Encore is a budget friendly option that gives us all the same qualities as full composite worktops but at a much cheaper price.”

Using Bushboard Encore meant Sharon was able to create a unified worksurface look in the kitchen, selecting Encore Ice in different sizes thanks to an extensive range of ready-made components to choose from. She used a full size worktop, and a large size island with square ends, kept open on one side to leave room for stools.

Sharon used British companies wherever possible, but for a nod to Americana, installed both a regular sink and a bar sink in her Encore island; the latter, an undermount fit, being filled with herbs during the day and bubbles on ice at night. “When we have friends over everyone congregates around the island, and this is exactly the sort of sociable space we love having,” says Sharon.
